Should you buy a Steinway?

February 5, 2009 by Eric

Maybe, maybe not. The number one reason to NOT buy a Steinway is this:

Don’t buy a Steinway because somebody told you it’s the best piano in the world.

There are a number of pianos that offer a musical and ownership experience at least equal to and often better than Steinway. The ownership experience is very important if you’re a HEP (high end piano) person.

If you really like the Steinway touch and tone, then by all means, go for it. It’s a fine company with a long and illustrious history of making some really great pianos. Just don’t think there aren’t others.
